2300 years ago, the Greek philosopher, Epicurus,
said, Pleasure is the absence of pain. Truer words were never
spoken. We specialize in the relief of musculoskeletal pain, first by the
most conservative methods possible and, when necessary, employing the latest
advances in orthopedic surgery. We focus on three things:
First, a thorough history and physical examination is carried out. This
is followed by diagnostic studies, which considerably aid in establishing
the proper treatment program for the quickest relief of medical problems.
Our state of the art General Electric diagnostic x-ray equipment includes
both x-ray and fluoroscopic capabilities. Integrating magnetic resonance
imaging facilities within the same building coordinates our diagnostic efforts.
Our well-qualified physician in the electrophysiology laboratory performs
electromyography and nerve conduction studies. Now we have added computerized
tomography. By means of these advanced diagnostic capabilities, we are better
able to pinpoint specific problems and render more accurate orthopedic care.
Then treatment begins using medication, rehabilitation and pain-relief techniques.
Our physical therapy department uses the full range of modalities to treat
inflammation, relieve muscle spasm, increase muscle strength, and improve
balance. Our joint rehabilitation program is effective in restoring motion
and improving muscle strength for rapid return to activity after joint replacement
surgery. Conservative treatment also includes nerve blocks, spinal blocks,
joint blocks and epidural blocks.
Finally, for problems which don't respond to conservative treatment, we
employ the most recent advances in musculoskeletal medicine including arthroscopic
surgery, total joint replacement, and the most recent innovations in spine
surgery including microscopic disk removal and advanced spinal stabilization
procedures with interbody fusion cage surgery.
With this dynamic graduated approach, quality of life can be improved by
orthopedics.
